Oasis Hospital Receives Joint Commission International Accreditation

Oasis Hospital, located in the city of Al Ain, has been caring for the people of the Al Ain and Abu Dhabi communities since 1960. At that time, before the modernization of the UAE, the late visionary Sheik Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his brother, the late Sheik Shakbout, understood the need for modern medical care for their people. Therefore they invited a small team of doctors and nurses to open the Oasis Hospital, which became the first hospital in the entire Abu Dhabi region.

"Successfully fulfilling the stringent requirements for Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation has proven once again that Oasis Hospital continues to lead the way in private healthcare in the Abu Dhabi region", commented Mr. Printy. JCI was recently appointed by Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) to accredit hospitals operating within DHCC.

The accreditation process normally takes from 18 to 24 months from the beginning of preparations until the actual site visit by a JCI survey team. The process itself provides standardized systems and practices that continue to improve the quality of patient care while also setting international standards for benchmarking. In order to maintain their accreditation, Oasis Hospital will undergo JCI surveys every 3 years. Therefore they are committed to upholding the standards achieved through this process, and in fact continuously improving in order to meet ever increasing demands for quality and safety of care.

The mission of Oasis Hospital has always been to provide safe, quality care in an atmosphere of love. The recent achievement of JCI accreditation ensures that the people at Oasis Hospital intend to continue their commitment to the high standards of care and safety expected by the people of today's UAE.

The following information is taken from the JCI website: "The mission of Joint Commission International is to continuously improve the safety and quality of care in the international community through the provision of education and consultation services and international accreditation. Joint Commission International (JCI) is a division of Joint Commission Resources (JCR), the subsidiary of The Joint Commission. For more than 50 years, The Joint Commission and its predecessor organization have been dedicated to improving the quality and safety of health care services. Today the largest accreditor of health care organizations in the United States, the Joint Commission surveys nearly 20,000 health care programs through a voluntary accreditation process. The Joint Commission and its subsidiary are both not-for-profit corporations."
