Oasis Hospital performs circumcision on male babies at the parents' request. Circumcisions are generally performed on infants within days of their birth after they have been examined by a pediatrician to make sure there are no health concerns that might mandate delaying the circumcision. An experienced surgeon will provide pain relief for the baby during and after the procedure. Circumcisions are also performed on babies under three months old in the Urgent Care Clinic Under local Anesthesia.
Infants older than three months will need to have general anesthesia and will therefore have their simple procedure postponed until they reach one year of age.
Parents are encouraged to discuss the procedure with their doctor before the child's birth. The doctor performing the circumcision will be able to answer any questions and to give additional information on the procedure.
Adult circumcision is also available and will be performed in the operating room under general anesthesia.
