A physiotherapist (also called a physical therapist) is an exercise and movement specialist who can teach you specific exercises based on your personal health needs.
Physiotherapists use manual therapy, massage, ultrasound, electric current, as well as the application of heated or cooled compresses to help people to recover from illness and injury. A physiotherapist can offer advice on posture, work-place ergonomics, sporting technique and sports training schedules as a part of a treatment program.
Patients who experience back and neck pain, shoulder problems, minor injuries, arthritis, stroke, chronic aches and pains, cerebral palsy or other problems resulting from road accident injuries, chest infections, etc. can greatly benefit from working with a physiotherapist.
